Family Date Night!

Instead of telling you all about our family date night, I thought this would be a good opportunity to "talk" about ideas for Family Date Nights. I know that we could use a few new ideas. We don't always go out, but every once in awhile will will. So, here are my questions:

1.) What restaurants do you like to take the family to? (I am looking for some place fun for the kids, other than Chuck E Cheese's)

2.) What kinds of things do you do for family date night at home?

3.) Tell us about other fun family date night outings that don't include eating dinner.

Don't be shy! Share your ideas! What may seem plain and boring to you, may be a fresh idea to someone else.

And finally, our pictures from our most recent date.

Your boys are SO cute! ours are really simple since the kids are still young. We've liked getting DQ and go to a park with it...go for bike rides around the neighborhood after dinner and sometimes to the park...also to B&N for drinks and playing with trains. Sorry if any of these are too juvenile :)

Ginger, thanks for the family date ideas. It is good to have ideas for all the ages - Anderson loves B&N. That just gave me an idea - perhaps each boy could get to "plan" a date. (Good preparation, right?)

Hey girl! Missed you at the park today!
We like Joe's Crab Shack so Sophia can dance with the waitresses & its loud so very child-friendly. ;)

Two things we like to do is movie night w/ campout in living room afterwards...they each get a turn choosing a movie, we pop popcorn and I buy a box or two of the movie candy and we cuddle up together and have fun, second is game night...they would each take a turn chosing a game and sometimes we include a special treat like making cookies together for it or make your own sundaes...I hope these ideas help...I too am also looking for new ideas...Take Care...Traci

Well, you know we love Red Robin. But here in GA our dates are usually picnics. We get some fast food and pull the sheet out of the trunk and all eat on it. Brusters is another favorite. A Family football game at the beach would be fun too. Enough from me. Great post, I am going to copy some ideas too. love you.

We love to have family days that focus on the current season. So, this fall, we went apple picking (see Fall family Fun Fest pics on our blog) and to a fall festival in Northern VA. The kids also love to go to B&N, like Ginger's family. Another fun outing is to Kids Cove at Thomas Road Church - if you are ever in Lynchburg, check it out! There's always an open invitation to come to visit:)

Amanda,

Hello friend, miss you and love this post idea. Our family night is on Sundays and we enjoy having pizza (usually frozen though I hope to start making it), some kind of treat, made cookies last night, watching movies/going on walks together (we walked to the movie store last night to get our movie!) sometimes reading together Hannah's school novels and sometimes a game (I think more games as the kids get older)
Also, we try to go to Chick-fil-a on Tuesday nights. They have fun activities for the kids and kid's meals are free! We all look forward to that and it is nice for me to have a night off.
Looking forward to hearing more ideas. Love you!

Well, this is a bit more than "Date Night", but this past Saturday, we took Susannah with us to hike up Crabtree Falls, VA. It is quite a trip, but so worth it. We also stopped and got three half bushels of winesap, fuji and empire apples. Apple pie anyone?

Thanks for your faithful "blogging". I love it! Our recent family night activities: hide-n-go-seek (including mom and dad), going outside after dark with flashlights and letting the kids run around in their PJ's, picking apples at an orchard and then making carmel apples together. We also recently had a family night theme = the color "green". Our dinner was all green items, we dressed in green clothes, colored green pictures etc....
