A Night in the Life. . .

oops, forgot the title last time!
The Johns Family!
It is my turn to cook this week and so the dinner prep hour began, as usual. Cai was sitting in his chair being "fed", while I got our dinner together to the sound of his whining for more food. This happens to be his crabbiest time of the day, but he is still SO ADORABLE!!

Our normal dinner crowd: Grandpa, Grandma, Kris, Me, Ryan, Trevor, Anderson and Cai. Tonight we had our dear friends, The Scotts over for dinner. They are on their way to GA today to sign on their new house tomorrow.

Christopher and Kristy love Mexican and so do I, so tonight it was one of my favorite meals! We had Chicken Enchiladas, Touchdown Taco Dip with Tortilla Chips and Cornbread. YUM!!

Followed by Banana Split Dessert - very light and refreshing after all that spice!

Then it was off to bed for Cai - He was extra snuggly tonight as I sang to him and rocked him. It was so sweet! I don't rock him every night, but once in awhile I do and when he allows it, that is just an EXTRA treat. I remind myself to cherish these moments, as he/they will soon be grown up boys and I will miss these moments.

The boys played baseball together outside, after dinner and I'm not sure what happened to that photo, but here is daddy praying with them. He almost always is the one who puts them to bed at night and prays with them. I am very thankful for that - it gives me an opportunity to finish up the day's chores and the reason I am most thankful is that Kris is an awesome pray-er and he loves the Lord, which I am grateful for the example he is to our boys!

Well, Ryan didn't quite go to sleep. He gets to stay up and read most nights. We have to limit him to two chapters, as he would otherwise read an entire book and then not get out of bed in the morning!

The Scotts lived with us for one year and during that time we had an on going Euker Tournament. Once the boys were in bed, we decided that for old times sake we should play another round. I still have our tally sheet hanging in the cupboard. Perhaps I will move it with us someday, although Christopher said that we will have to pick a new card game. Right now the tournament stands Johns- 10 Scott- 5
Well, there you have it. A night in the life of our family - although there weren't any pictures of grandma coming back from ANOTHER trip to the grocery store, or grandpa. Perhaps next time. . .

No Longer Imagining!

It is so hard to believe that it was one year ago today that our dear brother, uncle and friend went home to be with Our Savior! We all miss Ryan so much, but there is such a sweetness in knowing that he is no longer in pain and that we will one day see him again! I am reminded of this scripture from 1 Corinthians 15:

Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ryan was such an example of what it looked like to walk through difficult trials with joy. Yes, there were trying moments for him, but as an insider, one who really watched him up close, I can honestly say that he was joyful! The song that keeps playing in my mind today :

"I can only imagine what it will be like, when I walk by Your side...I can only imagine, what my eyes will see, when Your Face is before me!I can only imagine. I can only imagine.
Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel? Will I dance for you, Jesus? Or in awe of You, be still? Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall? Will I sing 'Hallelujah!'? Will I be able to speak at all?I can only imagine! I can only imagine!
I can only imagine, when that day comes, when I find myself standing in the Son!I can only imagine, when all I will do, is forever, forever worship You!I can only imagine! I can only imagine!
Yeah! I can only imagine!
Yeah! I can only imagine!
I can only imagine! Yeah! I can only imagine!! Only imagine!!!I can only imagine.
I can only imagine, when all I do is forever, forever worship You!I can only imagine."

Well, it is true, I can only imagine - BUT NOT RYAN - He is there! He is worshipping, no longer imagining!

One last thought, if you haven't read Ryan's Ramblings or visited the website Uncle Ted set up for him, please do so. Just go to www.ryanjohns.us

First And Ten, DO IT AGAIN!!!

Thank you for letting me relive my favorite cheer! First down! Yep - ten years of marriage - amazing!

Last Thursday Kris and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary. We had an all day date, which with 4 boys and a busy life, is AWESOME!!! First, we took the boys to Krispy Kreme in the morning. Then we dropped them off at home, went out to lunch and had our tab picked up by a friend that was also in the resaurant (K.B. you're too generous!) , did some shopping, went to the movies, had dinner at Pf Chang's and then met friends for dessert. (The Bouchers - they also got married on May 17.) It was a very blessed day!

Kris - I love you so much more than I did ten years ago! I pray that we have many, many more years together to grow in love and godliness!

For all of our friends and family out there in blog world - hope you enjoy checking in whenever you can - this will hopefully be a much easier way to keep in contact and update you more regularly with pictures. Here are a few of the boys enjoying their donuts!
